MATTHEW BANDY’S exciting new PAPA RECORDS EP, ‘SOMEWHERE BETWEEN HERE & THERE’, is a fresh, beautifully appointed blend of his key influences today, not least the thunderous neighbouring cities of his childhood, Detroit and Chicago.

“I’m really pleased with the release. It’s got a nice balance of soul and grit – there’s one instrumental, and two vocal pieces.” says MATTHEW, who is now settled and living in London.

It was 2008 when MATTHEW arrived in London. “The move made sense on both a personal and career level” he says. “I’d worked before with TONI ECONOMIDES and he introduced me to OLI LAZARUS and PAPA RECORDS.”

OLI soon asked if MATTHEW wanted to work on something for the label: “It was a no brainer – I’d been a PAPA fan for years, the label’s mix of soulful, organic and dancefloor flavours kinda summed up everything I was in to.”

The EP includes vocal pieces featuring London soul man RENN (THIS FEELING) and stirring, gospel-infused Kentucky native ADRIANNE ARCHIE (STUCK). Rounding things off is title track (SOMEWHERE BETWEEN HERE & THERE)which is a deep instrumental track that really showcases MATTHEW’S love affair with the house and techno sounds of Chicago and Detroit.
